Fall is right around the corner and so is the time to start thinking about our wardrobe again. Having to redesign an entire closet worth of clothes is arguably the most frustrating and expensive time in a woman’s life. It’s the struggle of finding what still fits, what’s out of style, and what we can still get away with wearing well into autumn. Luckily, a few tips and tricks can make the process a whole lot easier.
Tights and leggings are the easiest way to transform any outfit from summer to fall. Think of them as the fairy god mother of cute autumn attire. With a pair of tights you can still wear your black shorts, jean skirts, dresses and flowy-florals. By adding a pair of tights or leggings to a summer outfit, you can keep warm and add some warmth to your look. Fall is all about cool/dark colors.
As you can see, simply adding tights can take you from summer to fall in minutes. However, there’s more that can be done if you want to completely change your look. How? Layers, of course! If tights are the fairy god mother, sweaters, jackets, hats, and cardigans are the grand ball! Throw a cardigan on and now you look about 100% more cozy and ready for crisp mornings. As it gets hot in the afternoon you can tie it around your waist. As it cools down again in the evening, just throw it back on. It’s not only super comfortable, it’s also smart. If cardigans aren’t your thing, you can opt for a statement jacket or a big sweater. To finish the look? Add a hat!
Speaking of layering, one can never have enough scarves. Scarves are great because there are so many styles to chose from and they can all drastically change your outfit’s vibe. Use lighter scarves for early fall and progressively thicker ones as the weather starts to cool.
Like jackets and sweaters, boots instantly make you look cozier (the key to looking good in the fall). Boots can be used as an alternative to tights or along with tights as they help cover your legs from the cold. They go with everything from shorts to jeans and from skirts to dresses. Cowboy boots, riding/fashion boots, and booties should be part of every woman’s wardrobe, so this step should be easy. Pair a tall boot with a short skirt, leggings or jeans, cowboy boots with anything, and booties with leggings, jeans, or dresses.
Lastly, another thing you can do is add dark colors to your lighter outfits. “Don’t wear too bright of colors in the fall” yada, yada, yada. That rule is wrong… for the most part. It’s still possible to wear some of your summer-colored clothes in the fall. All you have to do is swap a few things here and there.
